Dehradun generates195 MLD (million litres per day) of water from Kaulukhet Spring, Maussifall, Bindal River, Bijapur Canal and more than 100 tubewells, from Uttarakhand Peyjal Samadhan Vikas & Nirman Nigam. Of this, nearly 165 MLD is discarded as waste water.Only 25% of the city is covered by the existing sewage system. In the absence of processing facility, the capital’s sewage flows into the seasonal rivers Rispana and Bindal on the outskirts of the city through ten main drains.
