In June 2014, Gujarat Pollution Control Board had examined Sabarmati river downstream of the Vasnabridge and found 11 sewage outlets into the river near the Vasna-Narol bridge were violating the prescribed sewage disposal norms.once again Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC)has been pulled up for pollution in the river.upon survey GPCB found 76 million litres a day (MLD) and 182 MLD capacities —were not functioning properly, hence untreated sewage was being discharged into the river. large amount of the sewage-laden water in the river is used to grow vegetables in 48 villages that lie on the banks of the Sabarmati downstream. These vegetables are then pumped back into the Ahmedabad grocery market for consumption.
