An inspection by a joint team of the Bareilly Municipal Corporation and the Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board found that the biomedical sewage and effluent treatment plants are receiving very little quantity of garbage and irregularities during the inspection as both the plants are receiving very less quantity of bio-medical waste.According to the BAREILLY Municipal Corporation, the sewage treatment plant is only getting 100 metric tones of biomedical waste in three days as opposed to the estimated 500-1000 metric tones which is disposed off by hospitals in three days. If the bio-medical waste is not being disposed as per the guidelines of government, the waste can aggravate the problem of swine flu and bird flu among locals,Taking note of the issue, BMC has decided to seek report from hospitals and nursing homes on how they dispose the bio-medical waste.
